There are two classical presentation of diarrhea- acute and chronic. Acute diarrhea lasts up to one week in general whereas chronic diarrhea remains for minimum a period of three weeks. Acute diarrhea basically results from some kind of infection unlike chronic diarrhea which is basically due to some functional disturbances.
