How To Take Better Pictures

  • To avoid under or over-exposed color negatives / prints , set the correct ASA number on the camera's film-speed dial.
  • When taking close-ups ,focus clearly on your subject capture the minutest detail avoiding background as much as possible.Your subject should be the sharpest one in the picture and the best exposed.
  • Closeups should be taken in bright lights only. Ensure sharpest picture by using flash on outdoor locations.
  • Flash light should always synchronise with shutter speed. To ensure this , set the speed on the camera mentioned specificially for flash.
  • When photographing sports events or other moving subjects, keep a faster shutter speed to freeze the action.
  • For indoors,shoot with a flash to avoid dark photographs.
  • Shiny surfaces reflect light from a flash. Shoot pictures at an angle to reflecting surfaces, or bounce the flash a white ceiling , wall or card .
  • To reduce or eliminate red reflections in a persons eye due to flash , hold the flash away from the camera.
  • skillful use of filters enhance the mood of photographs.
  • while photographing kids ask them how they would like to be photographed.They often come up with good ideas,such as,dressing up or hanging upside down from a tree branch.
  • Fix the perfct place to shoot . try to shoot pictures on a cloudy day when your subjects can turn in all directions without any squint. on a sunny day, move into shade . A warm filter will prevent bluish tinge.
  • When photographing babies ,be observant of new things the baby is doing the baby is doing.Try to capture what ever is happening at that moment.
  • Vary your picture-taking angles. kneel for a ground level view , climb a chair or staircase for a higher perspective.
  • Use space wisely rather than shooting everything horizontally, leaving meaningless areas. Try turning the camera vertically,move forward or backward to get the right view.
  • Donot shoot untill you have covered the picture you want in the viewfinder
